The IMANA Students & Residents Committee was formed with the goal to help facilitate professional networking and development opportunities. This committee is dedicated in advancing and shaping diversity in healthcare.
Objectives & Involvements
The IMANA Students & Residents Committee is dedicated to meeting the needs of pre-health (medicine, dental, optometry) students, residents, and International Medical Graduates (IMG) entering the healthcare profession. The Students & Residents Committee provides mentoring opportunities, valuable health care industry connections, guidance, resources essential for strengthening one’s career path through knowledgeable practitioners and volunteering opportunities, through international relief trips with IMANA Medical Relief (IMR).

Dr. Anam Tariq, D.O., MHS
Dr. Anam Tariq is a board-certified Internist, who completed her Nephrology fellowship from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a Masters in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is a clinical-researcher and educator with focus on nutrition, metabolomics, and cardio-metabolic disease in the kidney-diseased populations.Dr. tariq is also involved in multiple public health and professional organizations. She serves on the Board of the Islamic Medical Association of North America and is the Chair of the Students and Residents Committee. Also, she is a member of the Policy Committee for the National Muslim Taskforce on COVID-19.
Waqas Haque, MPH
Waqas Haque is the Vice-Chair of the IMANA Students and Residents Committee. He is a fourth-year medical student at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Prior to medical school, Haque studied in the business school at Cambridge University in England, and earned a Masters of Public Health at Johns Hopkins during a gap year in medical school. He has aspirations to apply his passion for innovation and entrepreneurship in healthcare reform. In his free time, Haque enjoys reading anything non-fiction, Islamic studies, and coffeeshops.
