UMR-IMANA Knoxville, TN Report

On Saturday, November 4th, 2017 Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA) and United Muslim Relief (UMR) joined hands to raise funds for the underprivileged. The focus this time was on the deprived Palestinian refugees. UMR representative, Ayman Aburahma was the event emcee, and spoke about what the Palestinian refugees go through on a daily basis.

Our keynote speaker Miko Pelad, an Israeli-American activist and author, spoke about the trials and tribulations of the Palestinian refugees. He shared his personal experiences growing up in Palestine, and witnessing the catastrophic events that changed his life forever. He also touched base on his novel, The General’s Son: Journey of An Israeli in Palestine.

Furthermore, Sheikh Abdulhakim Mohamed motivated the audience, and talked about the importance of helping the ones who are in need and poverty stricken. We finished the night with entertainment by comedian, Amer Zahr, who enlightened the crowd with his humor.  The joint IMANA and UMR benefit dinner was a night to enjoy, as well as a night to raise awareness for the Palestinian refugee population.

We like to thank all those who attended and showed their support. Stay tuned for our future events with UMR and IMANA.
