IMANA Ophthalmology Dinner in New Orleans
Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA) held its annual Muslim Ophthalmology Society Dinner on Saturday, November 11th, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Convention Center. IMANA Ophthalmology is one of the forums of IMANA Specialties, which are networking groups that provide forums for fellow specialists.
Our keynote guest speaker, Dr. Tamer H. Mahmoud informed the attendees the importance of ophthalmology. He is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Attendees at the networking dinner listened to his presentation with interest.
Furthermore our other accomplished guest speaker, Dr. Baseer Khan, talked about the significance of the IMANA Medical Relief (IMR) SaveSyria Cataract Surgery mission. His message raised awareness of the problems faced by Syrian refugees, among the Ophthalmologists present at the event. They showed keen interest in regards to IMR cataract missions, and took home with them the IMR timelines and other relevant information.
This delightful event provided Muslim Ophthalmologists, residents, and sponsors an opportunity to network and share an array of ideas. The turnout at the dinner was good. We like to thank all who have attended the 2017 IMANA 3rd Annual Muslim Ophthalmology Society Dinner.
