The Chicago-based medical association will open its first permanent office in Fairfax, VA as a means to build strategic partnerships with local organizations in Washington

LOMBARD, Ill. — The Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA) today opens its first permanent office in the DMV area, paving the way for new opportunities and partnerships between local medical organizations and physicians. Located in Fairfax, Virginia, the organization will use the space to expand its relief and advocacy efforts across the D.C. metro region.

“Having a footprint in the nation’s Capital is an important step for IMANA and for our mission of providing medical relief in line with our guiding principles of providing compassionate care for all who need it,” said Akrama Hashmi, executive director of IMANA.

While its headquarters will remain in the Chicago metro area, the DC-area office will allow the organization to strengthen its relationships with existing partners, like the ADAMS Center, and build partnerships with new organizations and physicians committed to making a difference in their communities and around the world.

IMANA is at the forefront of providing international medical relief in the wake of ongoing threats to health care and humanitarian crises. As COVID-19 cases surged in India this past April, IMANA spearheaded a campaign to provide essential aid, including the sourcing and deployment of medical supplies and equipment and supporting COVID management programs in India.
