Oncology Hospitalist, Ohio
Dr. Marium Husain
Marium Husain, MD, MPH is a Hematology/Oncology Fellow at The Ohio State University James Comprehensive Cancer Center. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed a residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Husain has been working on community service projects in the Columbus area and abroad for the past 12 years. As the President of the national non-profit IMANA, she has been working on public health education and domestic projects related to food insecurity, women’s health, reproductive health, and climate change.
Dr. Husain traveled to Haiti in 2013 and 2014 as part of IMANA Medical Relief (IMR) to help provide primary care at a rural clinic and raise money to build wells for clean water access. She is also the Founder of Science Jummah, a platform to present and discuss the rich tradition of faith and science in Islam.
“There was this photo I took of a local creek near the clinic in Haiti, contaminated by waste. I couldn’t believe the locals rely on this stream for drinking and making wudu! A change in climate is felt primarily through a change in water, which puts millions of lives at risk. I was so thankful that IMANA understood access to safe and readily available water, an essential in maintaining public health. So, in addition to providing medical aid, we fundraised for wells and water filters to reduce the likelihood of diarrhea and other diseases.”
