From July 21 to 26, 2018, 188 IMANA members and their families flew in from a dozen different states into Cancun, Mexico for a getaway at IMANA’s 51st Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly.
Guests attended a Continuing Medical Education (CME) course on travel medicine, enjoyed the beach, pool, and excursions, Ladies Night, Kids Night, and the 2018 IMANA Banquet. Spiritual speakers Mufti Hussain Kamani and Dr. AbdulHakim Mohamed imparted spiritual wisdom on a daily basis amidst the beauty and pleasantness of the five-star Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa, where the convention was located.
We at IMANA thank those of you who attended and made this a memorable convention. Thanks to you, we raised over $100,000 to go toward our mission of fostering health promotion, disease prevention, and health maintenance in communities around the world through direct patient care, health programs, and advocacy.
We look forward to seeing you next year at an exciting new location!
“The conference was the perfect mix of fun, relaxation, networking, and medical and Islamic education.” -Sobiya Ansari, M.D.
“The convention is always an important way to reconnect with the IMANA community. I enjoyed the opportunity to network with others and talk about our Holistic Heart program, an IMANA initiative in Chicago funded by Islamic Relief. The spiritual talks were inspiring and uplifting, and I enjoyed the opportunity to present on topics for the CME portion.” – Umbereen Nehal M.D., M.P.H., FAAP
“The IMANA conference in Cancun was the perfect getaway after a busy work year. It was wonderful meeting up with family, catching up with friends, and best of all, making new friends and connections. Add to that Mufti Kamani’s daily ‘lectures,’ and I think I can speak for everyone when I say we all came back physically and spiritually refreshed.” – Mehr Qureshi, M.D.
